  Dock Contractor Requirements

 

Overview

All construction activity involving docks or boardwalks must be conducted by a contractor possessing a valid class “A” general contractor’s license or a marine contractor’s license issued by the Pinellas County Construction and Licensing Board (PCCLB). All such contractors and any contractor performing dredge and fill activities shall maintain applicable worker’s compensation and general liability insurance as required by state and federal law, including but not limited to, the provisions of the U.S. Longshoreman’s & Harbor Worker’s Compensation Act (USL&H), or the Jones Act. A $5,000 Surety Bond is also required (a performance bond is not sufficient)

 

Registration Check List

In order to submit applications for Dock/Dredge & Fill Permits, a contractor must fulfill all registration requirements.

Complete the following and submit to Clerk of the Circuit Court, Board Records Department, 315 Court Street, 5th Floor, Clearwater, FL 33756:

   Bullet Image Surety Bond Form. Submit the original executed bond

   Bullet Image A copy of USL&H Insurance Coverage, where applicable

   Bullet Image A copy of your current Contractors License issued by the Pinellas County Construction and Licensing Board (PCCLB)

  Establishing A Deposit Account

 

Overview

A Deposit Account with the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Board Records Department, provides contractors with the ability to keep funds on deposit. As a service is provided, fees will be assessed and deducted from the account balance. This deposit account eliminates the requirement of paying copying costs in person or by mail, and expedites the customer’s requests which can be submitted via fax or telephone.

 

To Open A Deposit Account

To open an account, you must submit an “Application for Water and Navigation Deposit Account” form with a minimum deposit of $50.00. Mail your application and check made payable to “Board of County Commissioners” to:

Using Your Deposit Account

You may charge copying fees to this account. The requested copies along with a Water & Navigation Copy Request Form (indicating the amount charged for the service) will be sent by fax. Please ensure your account has sufficient funds available so we may timely process your requests. To prevent unauthorized use, you must provide your account number each time you request a charge. You may make additional deposits to your account by remitting funds along with a written request to Board Records at the address listed above. Any changes desired to your deposit account should be made by filing a new “Application for Water and Navigation Deposit Account” form, which may be faxed to Board Records at (727) 464-4716 or mailed to the address listed above.
