TAX DEED SALES - Online Listing
A tax deed sale is a public auction conducted by the Clerk of the Circuit Court, during which real property is sold to the highest bidder in order to recover delinquent (unpaid) property taxes.
The Clerk advertises tax deed properties to be sold and the auction dates in a local newspaper once each week for four consecutive weeks. A deputy clerk conducts the sale or public auction, in accordance with Florida Statutes, in the main lobby of the Clearwater Courthouse, 315 Court St., Clearwater, Fla., 33756, beginning at 11 a.m.
The highest auction bidder must report to the Tax Deed Department, Room 163, immediately after the sale. The highest bidder must also post a NON-REFUNDABLE CASH DEPOSIT of $200.00 at the time of the sale. This deposit will be applied to the sale price upon receipt of full payment.
Payment:
If payment of the final bid, plus taxes and recording fees is not made within 24 hours, excluding weekends and holidays, the non-refundable deposit will be used to pay to re-advertise the sale.
Payment of the high bid amount may only be made by cash, cashier’s check or money order (no personal checks).
Payment for documentary stamps and recording fees must be a separate payment.
All sales are final and no refunds will be issued.
All properties sold at a tax deed auction/sale qualify under “buyer beware.”
Bidders are encouraged to do their own research and/or seek professional advice before bidding.
When lands are sold for nonpayment of taxes, the title may not be a marketable title.
