Public Hearing Notice
The Pinellas County Value Adjustment Board (“Board”) hereby gives notice that on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 commencing at 8:30 A.M. in the County Commission conference room, Fifth Floor, Pinellas County Courthouse, 315 Court Street, Clearwater, Florida, a public hearing will be held regarding the First Certification of the 2016 tax rolls and to consider any and all other matters that may legally come before said board.
The purpose of the Board is to hear the following: petitions relating to assessments filed pursuant to Florida Statute (F.S.) 194.011(3); complaints relating to homestead exemptions as provided for under F.S. 196.151; appeals from exemptions denied or disputes arising from exemptions granted upon the filing of exemption applications under F.S. 196.011; and appeals concerning ad valorem tax deferrals and classifications. The Board has appointed Special Magistrates for the purpose of taking testimony and making recommendations to the Board, which recommendations the Board may act upon without further hearing. Special Magistrate exemption and classification hearings will begin October 2016.
A list of all applicants for exemption and classifications who have had their applications for exemption or classification wholly or partially approved, and a list of all applicants for exemption and classifications who have had their applications for exemption or classification denied, are available for public inspection between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Pinellas County Property Appraiser's Office, 315 Court Street, Second Floor, Clearwater, Florida 33756.
The types of exemptions and classifications included in the above referenced list are as follows: Homestead, "Senior" Homestead, Widows, Widowers, Disability, Non-Profit Religious, Literary, Scientific, Charitable, Agricultural, and Value. Persons are advised that if they decide to appeal any decision made at this meeting/hearing, they will need a record of the proceedings, and, for such purpose, they may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
